I QUIT!

This evening I am feeling a tremendous sense of relief, as if a heavy burden has been lifted off of my shoulders. Or the freedom a woman might feel in breaking up with an abusive boyfriend.

I've quit cloth diapering. Cold turkey. I just removed my last cloth diaper (filled with squishy nasty poop) and cleaned it and threw it in the wash with my last load of cloth diapers. I have several lightly used or never worn diapers that I'll be selling, along with cloth wipes, extra inserts, a pail and a wet bag.

I don't need to explain why, because the past four posts I've written about that explain most of it. The rest of my reasons for quitting include the overall stinkiness, time/energy commitment (laundry involves going up and down a flight of stairs a few times), and probably our old washer and extremely hard water.

Most of all, cloth diapering was my favorite mothering fetish and took up the energy of my devotion. But no more. I don't have to cloth diaper to be a good homemaker or even to save our family money. I don't have to cloth diaper to be a good mom, in the same way that a lady doesn't have to have a natural (or even vaginal) birth to be a good mom.

I loved cloth diapers. They are cute. But they are also smelly and incompatible with my life now! I'm no longer asking for advice or tips because I've tried IT ALL. Twice. It didn't work and it's taking way too much of my emotional and physical energy.

Anyone have any good deals on disposable diapers? :) I'm all ears.

Positive Job Update!

Today God provided David with a way out of UPS! His work there, mainly for the last 3 years in a supervisory role, has been just short of psychological torture. I'd rather not go into details here, but let me just say this: Don't become a front-line supervisor at UPS Worldport.

Moving on! David will now be working at the local Amazon.com fulfillment center right near us in our home town! He'll still be working third shift and will still also work at Sacred Heart Model School as their After School Care Director. He'll have to drop one of the two seminary classes he's taking this semester. He'll probably get in pretty good shape and get to grow his goatee back :) Those are the least of the perks of course. We will save big on gas money and wear and tear on our car, and he'll get a 3 day weekend, at least from Amazon.

Don't get me wrong, I'm fully aware that our new schedule we be just as crazy as it always has been! (See my recent post about this) But it will be a lot less stressful in some very important ways.

Practically, his new schedule fleshes out to be about 5 more hours of work a week. I know... More hours! For now, he'll be gone the entire evenings of tuesday through friday starting next week. When he came home from the interview today to ask me before accepting the position, it was hard for me to say yes... but not that hard.

When you have a family you all have to make sacrifices. It's just what we have to do to get by, and there's no other way to do it right now. For this season I'm giving up the evenings we've had together and replacing them with lunches together, but only four days a week. Carson's nap will start later, around 1 now. Further, instead of about an hour and a half round-trip commute to UPS for David, that time will be spent working at a place only 10 minutes from our house. Also, this job is full-time. UPS never was, and it is very difficult to get full-time employment where he was at. At Amazon, he could easily be promoted and make enough to only have to work ONE JOB to make enough. We're teaming up to do this for our mental health. Ironic, I know.

Needless to say, I'd love to have friends over in the evenings now! Especially for dinner or play dates for the kids.

What our Daily Life is REALLY Like

We kind of live a crazy life around here. I feel the need to explain this to our friends so you can know our needs. We need help sometimes. And understanding. We need prayer for the health of our family and marriage. I know all families have hardships, and I don't want to compete or compare. I just want our friends to know why we may say "no" to things sometimes. I also want our friends to know why they may not see us as often as other families, or why we feel overwhelmed sometimes. Our lifestyle is crazy, sort of like overbooked college students only with children and a mortgage. So here goes...

David's Schedule and How it Effects our Family

The craziest thing we've dealt with for pretty much the entire 5 years we've been married is David working third shift @ UPS. Because he works through the night monday through friday night, he has to get his '8 hours' another time of the day. So he sleeps from about 6:30 til 1PM. This throws a wrench in some social activities and things scheduled in the mornings, or makes them difficult for him to attend... When friends move, they move saturday mornings. That is David's equivalent of 2AM. When friends call David's phone during the mornings and lunch, he can't talk. He's sleeping :) And when Carson is playing around the house, can I let him scream a lot? not really... And every time I go into our room in the mornings to change clothes or get something, he stirs. I hate disturbing him and wish he could get more and better sleep. I've put darkening curtains in our bedroom to help him. Thankfully, most of the time David is a heavy sleeper. But not always. We have to be careful and considerate of him...

David also works two other jobs in addition to UPS. One is that he works afternoons Monday through Friday at Sacred Heart Model School. He is their After School Care Director. He works from 2 to 6. So when David wakes up at 1, he gets ready to go to work again and is gone until about 6:30. Though weeks are tight for us, it is God's provision and the schedule is doable for now. I have been praying for months that God would provide David with one job instead of these two being our principle income. He needs it, so if you could join me in prayer for this I would appreciate it! I need to be more persistent about prayer in this area though, because Christ commanded that in Scripture...

The third job David works is at our beloved home church working with AWANA and youth sunday school. When David wakes up Saturdays around lunch time, we have family time because it is the only day of the week where we can have any family time longer than one hour! Saturday nights he works on his Sunday School lesson. They are going through the book of Matthew. Carson and I miss David a lot during the week. Carson only gets to see Dada usually for an hour before bedtime M-F. I guess for some families this is okay, but we want more.

Honestly, we have this constant feeling of being stretched and overworked. In a country that glorifies and worships workaholics, I don't feel like I fit in. Though we play the part very well!

What also effects our schedule and our family is that we only have one car. It's easy for me to get my errands done when David sleeps  from 6:30 til 1, though Carson naps from 11:30 on. This gives me a four or five hour window to do stuff I need or want to do outside the home. But David uses the car from 1:30 to 6:30. By 6:30 I've been making dinner for an hour while feeding Carson, and also have it ready for a starving, hardworking husband when he comes home. David and Carson get their time together, and then Carson goes to bed between 7:30 and 8:00 right now. This gives David and I time together, though lately this has been spent doing work in our basement. He leaves for UPS around 10 and the daily cycle starts again for him... work 10-6, sleep 6:30 to 1, work 2-6, be with family from 6:30 time 10, etc. etc. etc.

When you do the math, David's work week comes out to about 55 hours; 30-35 at UPS and 20 at SHMS. During the school year he also takes two classes. I don't know how my love does this, but he does it well. Very well. He is strong and hard working. He is not wimp. If there was ever a man who worked hard to provide for his family by doing whatever he can, it would be David. I am so proud of him.

On Me Staying at Home

You can imagine that I could feel a load of guilt for David working so much outside the home, and here I am at home with Carson and soon to be another child. I'm not going to divulge all my struggles in this area, but I will just say that what we have now is the best for us. We know this.

A short explanation: If I were to work outside the home, I could never make as much per hour as David makes at any of his jobs. Thus if I worked and replaced income from one of David's jobs, I would have to work about twice as many hours as he works at the job just to make the same amount of money. This would give is even less time together as a family and make our schedule even more ridiculous.

I wish we could say that I am at home purely as a calling from the Lord, but I can't. Up until the third trimester of my first pregnancy we were planning on me working at least part time. Then this job at SHMS as After School Care Director fell in David's lap. It has been the best job he has ever had! The principal is wonderful and understanding of his third-shift sleeping schedule. The pay is exactly what we need. The job itself is fun for David, and also good for building his resume. He wants to be a Children's and/or Youth Pastor. Once he finishes his M.Div. next year he will have already sent out resumes, Lord willing. He has in the past, but God has closed all doors and so far laid on our hearts to stay where we are and serving in our home church, which we love.

My daily schedule is formed around Carson's and David's schedules. I spend most of my day in the kitchen, cooking and cleaning up after cooking. I do laundry (we have a lot with cloth diapers ;) ), mow the lawn, pay the bills and manage our budget, do trash and recycling, grocery shopping, schedule events, watch kids for friends, and just play with and care for Carson. Though with all the chores, it is difficult to sit down and play with him when every where I look something needs to be done.

So getting out of the house is essential for me. Not having car access in the afternoons, when chores are mostly done and Carson and I are getting cabin fever, has been a bit of a challenge, though I've adjusted. I've sort of made myself more introverted in order to serve my family better. But of course I spend too much time on FB when I feel the need to be in contact with people. I can't change the fact that God made me extroverted and a people person!

Could You Pray for Us?

We have struggled for a long time now with our lifestyle. What is more taxing than anything is the way he gets treated at his most necessary job, UPS. Every supervisor gets treated badly there, so David isn't particularly deserving of it or anything. We depend on UPS for SBTS tuition reimbursement, health/dental insurance and for half of our income.

I always miss David when he leaves at night for work. A lot of my interactions with him throughout the day are in transition between some job or other and sleep. Many times he is only half awake. Sometimes this makes communication difficult! We strive to do weekly dates or 'couch time' and we make time to talk.

David doesn't have much of a social life outside our family and his coworkers. By nature David is an introvert and doesn't require much in that area, though I see that he is hungry for time with other guys. Especially guys who share his interests, like his friends Jeremy, Scott B., Jason, Don, etc.  He also loves his parents and they talk frequently.

So What?

In conclusion dear friends, if you see David nodding off at church, or ever wonder why we don't make it to events or helping someone move, or why David forgot to call you back for the 3rd time, or why you haven't heard from him for a while... now you know why, if you didn't already! :)

I just wanted to be a little vulnerable and share my heart with my friends. I know you all have difficulties, especially if you are a seminary family with young kids, etc.... Again, I have absolutely no time or patience to compare or judge how people spend their time, and I just ask that our friends don't do that to us. People love to compete because we are proud. I am just accepting the lot that God has given me, and I pray that you can do the same for yourself and your family.

But most importantly, could you please pray for David gets one job to take the place of his two at UPS and SHMS?!?!

Happy News

I thought it would be interesting to read later on what all my thoughts were in the first 4 hours of finding out we are having our 2nd child (in chronological order):

-(looking at the two positive pregnancy tests with Carson complaining in the background because I left him alone for 1 minute) Oh snap. Too late to prevent this (as in I wasn't sure if I was ready)
-*tears of joy*
-Woohoo!!!
-Tell Carson he's gonna be a big brother! give him hugs and kisses.
-There's a little heart beating inside of me!
-Make a sign to surprise David when he pulls into the driveway in 5 minutes. (sign said, "Dec. 2013 <3")
-Oh yay I get to make that 2nd child announcement shirt I saw in Pinterest! (Only Child, expires such-and-such date)
-Oops! better feed Carson. Hands shaking in excitement, too excited to decide what to feed him! shaking too much to buckle his high chair! Just give him cheerios for now.
-*David sprints inside and we hug and cry*
-Call parents! grandparents! siblings! close friends! Can't wait to tell them!
-Oh yeah... a two year old and a newborn - LOL.
-We really need some more cloth diapers!
-Lots of texting and calling!
-So excited I'm queasy. That Ham and Bean soup suddenly doesn't smell so good. It's all in my head.
-Lets discuss what we want to do about some things - I'd like to keep the name to ourselves until he/she is born.
-Operation VBAC - eek!
-Yay! now we have extra motivation to get the basement back in order!
-Children are such a blessing from the Lord. He has truly blessed us with another.
-Praying I don't miscarry, but trusting that this child is in His hands whether in my womb or in heaven!
-Wondering how many kids we will have in total some day, and when/if we can adopt.
-God is making my heart bigger.
-I want toast.
-Now I can put the impossible venture for flat abs on hold for at least another year :)
-Yay!

Please don't say anything on FB yet :)

Blogging took a back burner...

Like any wife and mom, I can always say that my life is "crazy". But these past two or so weeks were extra-super-crazy! One crisis after another! When it rains, it pours.

First, our basement flooded. It was like a nightmare that came to life! Praise God for our church family, some of whom came at midnight that saturday to help us pull up carpet, vac up water, move furniture and tear our wet padding! It was us vs. gushing water! It was a furious race! It was just nuts!

After we ripped out drywall to minimize damage - rental fans blowing most of the week

This is where the pipe burst - a former spigot that was POORLY capped off! imagine a spigot running INSIDE your wall.

Water seeped through the walls into the 3rd bedroom

The brick on the other side of the leak, where the spigot used to be, was still wet after a day or two! no rain had come either...

nasty
So anyhoo we just had an adventure, and it took a lot of time on the phone to talk to insurance people and get restoration companies to come out with estimates. Since we want to do as much as we can on our own, it's gonna take longer than if we just paid someone to do every little thing. So besides using the washer and dryer, maybe the toilet, and jumping over boxes to get to the pantry, we don't use our family room or third bedroom anymore :(

At this point I can say that I miss renting, but only a little.

All three of us also got colds. Other kinds of crises occurred around the same time too, and it's been an emotionally and physically exhausting week!

I don't really need any pity though. We are truly blessed in every way. We live in a time and place of abundance and things like this are easily taken care of! I can't imagine living in a time and place where there would be no money and help to do this. I guess people such a time and place have more handyman skills by necessity though...

 Right now David's parents are here for the weekend, and we've had a good time relaxing and laughing with them. Today, trying to squeeze David, Glenn and Carson in his massive car seat all in the back seat of our tiny Kia Rio was pretty funny. What's also laughable is that it took the five of us 2 hours to obtain lunch - between getting ready, trying to all fit in our car and figuring out where to eat! Though my "hanger" at the time made it not funny to me right then.

In conclusion however, just to be completely honest... My heart has just been really laid bare this week (not just cuz of the stupid basement). Who is my hope? Where is my trust? Do I try to blend in with the culture around me to find truth, or do I turn to God for it? Do I live to make sure people think I'm "legit" or do I live for God regardless of what people think of me, especially those who are cynical and predisposed to not like me? Do I hunger for the light of God? Do I "hate" my brother or sister in Christ (as mentioned in 1 Jn)? Am I doing what I should be doing right now, or am I just being selfish with my time, neglecting my family?

It's a hard battle sometimes, working through all this. I feel constantly at war between pleasing man and pleasing God. It's like Paul's thorn in the flesh. It's a sin struggle that I feel like I will never overcome. It makes me weak as a Christian... so worried about what others could possibly think about me, and so caught up in their glory rather than God's glory.

This is one of the things I absolutely despise about my age-group (the millenials) right now: we are taking worship to a whole new level. Worship of ourselves, of our things, of our food, of our significant other... It's not "cool" to worship God, no. It's trite, self-righteous and narrow-minded to praise God publicly, especially face-to-face. It can shock some people, to actually say "praise Jesus" in normal conversation... I mean, people who call themselves Christians.

Yet this is where my heart truly is. I want to let my light shine and let people see Jesus in me. But I know I've failed at that time and again. I'm sorry to people I've known who haven't seen this side of me like they should. I hide it for fear of their opinion of me. I pray that God continues to free me from my fear of man so that I can praise Him freely, no matter what the cost.

This week's highlights

Do those fingers taste good?
This week actually had highlights so I thought I'd write 'em here!

The biggest blessing for our family this week was David's job at Sacred Heart being made year-round. God continues to provide work for him and one of the results is that I continue to be a stay-at-home mom :) The best part is, though his job is in a different part of the school, they are honoring his current wage and even letting him work the same hours in the afternoons. Sacred Heart has always been very good to David and has honestly been the best employer ever.

Other than that, I sought fellowship with ladies from church and we spent some time together this week! I enjoyed seeing Becca and Angela. I also enjoyed helping Beth out after she got a root canal. I love her kids.

But while me and Carson were there we shared the stomach bug germs. (But honestly, I'd rather get sick a little more often and be involved in each others' lives than be healthy but home alone. ...Though I'm pretty sure we were the carriers of the germs, which I still feel bad about.) For all these things David graciously either watched Carson or dropped us off before going to work.

The downside of this week is missing Elsbeth's baby shower :( I had a gift (well, gift(s)) all prepared for her, but as we are not in the clear with the stomach bug, there was no way I was gonna risk it. I just hope the next time I write here doesn't include the words, "Then I got the stomach bug" or, "David got it too". I used lysol, bleach, and all the laundry is done. One can only hope and pray.

Oh and by the way, cloth diapers hold in diarrhea way better than disposables ;)

This week's highlights

Sunday was a blast, as always. We loved getting together the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. Carson, however, did a lot of screaming in the nursery the whole day. He is teething pretty bad, and also has separation anxiety. It's kind of hard on me, but luckily the nursery workers were willing to put up with some screaming... all of them veterans and moms :) That's one of the things I love about our church: all the other moms there who have been through all those crazy stages. They are always so reassuring and for that I'm so thankful!

Monday I did crazy catch-up housework, grocery shopping and cleaning. This was also to get ready to have some friends over for lunch Tuesday, all the way from Romania!!!

On tuesday Kristie and Boing came, and as they arrived we had half a dozen cop cars on a nearby corner. Turns out they arrested a guy for a murder that happened in the ghetto apartment complex that is nearby. It may be close, but our neighborhood doesn't see much of the crime they have, and usually their crime is among themselves. Anyhoo, our time with the delightful couple was wonderful, as I wrote about in my other post.

Wednesday was teaching piano like normal to Josh and Brianna. I love seeing Angela when I can!

Our fruit trees were delivered, which came bare and without dirt in one very long cardboard box. I wasn't sure what to do with it, and was busy so I left it on the porch for when David got home.

Well, when he got home the box was gone! I knew I hadn't moved it so we immediately realized we had been robbed! (so we thought) I called the police to make a report and David walked around the outside of our house. Then we went knocking on our neighbor's doors to see if they saw anything. When we came to one neighbor's door who is particularly watchful and heads up the neighborhood watch, we found that they had taken the box inside for fear it would be stolen, lol. Phew!

I have dubbed this week, "CRIME WEEK". Murderers and thieves!

On thursday I woke up thinking about things that need to get done around the house, as in repairs and renovations. Some of them are small and easy, so I decided to take them on as Carson allows. At the same time I had to go hunting for a printer cartridge so print labels for our Operation Christmas Child boxes.

our church did 12 Operation Christmas Child boxes!

Then alas, our upstairs toilet broke, and the closet door.

~~~~
Answered prayer! We have prayed for a while that God would use our house and it's space for His glory and to serve others, especially in our church! We he answered that prayer this week by having some of our friends bring their kids over. I love having them over.
Before going to bed thursday night I was shocked to see my friend Sara calling. Carl needed to go to the hospital so their kids slept at our place for the night.
here we are, watching Sean the Sheep the next morning.
The next day we also had Caleb over for a little bit.
"No Carson, don't break my tower!"
Safe from the Carson monster
On Saturday I got to help the Jenkins' with their new condo, which is a pretty nice place! I can't wait for them to have us over :) haha
God's plans for us
This is a picture of our old apartment in May when we put the primer on right before giving the manager the keys. Yesterday I listened to a sermon by Tony Evans on Moody Radio that began with talking about hopelessness and described the hope that we have in God.
I've always loved the context of this verse, because God said this to the Israelites while they were in the midst of punishment for their rejection of God. I think this is one of those verses where it almost can't be taken out of context. Well, when it's in the context of belief in the one true God...
I'd like to continue editing photos like this, so bear with me as I learn! It's pretty fun.
change
I don't like change anymore. In college and high school I loved going new places and being busy all the time. But since marriage I love being settled down, doing a routine and having a place for everything and everything in its place. I even watch the same movies and TV shows over and over rather than watch new ones.
Don't get me wrong, new things are great and fun. But I need to truly learn how to cope with change. I am still in shock that we are not only moving to Jeff, but settling there for several years. I am also in shock that we're leaving this apartment complex where I have some good friends. We're leaving the apartment we have always known since becoming husband and wife. It's just a little weird.
I thank God for this new blessing, but I have found that when God blesses it's more than just ease and comfort. It's usually responsibility and a little hardship mixed in. So in order to handle my fears of things going wrong through this big change, I tend to plan waaay ahead by already starting packing, planning how I will do yard work and what we need for it, being super duper diligent with all of our documentation for the loan...
Ok, so I just wrote that for the purpose of records. We'll see how things go in hindsight, and then we will all see that change isn't all that bad.
pictures of the new home
We have a pretty big yard to mow! And a large basement which we have dubbed the awesome possum fun room. (That's how we talk in our family, yes it's weird!)
The upstairs living room and the large kitchen are below! It's triple the size of the kitchen I've been cooking in for four years. I'm hoping some good cookin' is gonna come from it!
the house
We have been looking at houses for a while, but never expected that April 1st we would've put an offer on a house and have it accepted! It went crazy fast, but was in God's good timing. If you're curious how, well here it is.
Rewind several weeks and you would find David and I butting heads over what to do about buying a house. He was interested in fixer-uppers, I was not so much. I felt unloved, he felt disrespected. We were talking past each other, but by God's grace and prayer we resolved our communication by me being more open to whatever house we could find and David promising me that he won't leave me and Carson in a dirty or unsafe house while he is at work.
Once we resolved our issues, we began touring several kinds of houses we found on David's phone app. This only gets you so far, and since David is unable during most business hours to make phone calls and set up appointments, I helped out by searching for different realtors. That's how we found Bart.
Bart had very high ratings and awesome reviews by a couple dozen buyers and sellers. It helps to have a Realtor looking out for your interests and providing you with knowledge and opportunities that zillow can't. So Bart showed us a couple houses on Saturday March 31. It was much easier to look at a house with a Realtor looking at it too. He pointed out things we didn't notice, gave us estimates on repairs. The first house that day was big but needed lots of repair. The second house was smaller and move-in ready, but was in a less safe area. By the end of the afternoon Carson was tired and hungry and I was nursing him in the car.
As David and I sat there in the car I turned to him and said, "Why don't we just save up for another year or six months and come back to it? We could get approved for a higher loan and find a house in a safer area." David agreed, but still wanted to look around. Bart drove away but had left us with the address of another house he himself was selling.
This house is in Jeff, where we weren't looking so much because of David's commute. Someone had already put an offer on it. But we thought "what the heck, let's just drive by it".
Turns out this house is by some dear friends of ours (the first people I knew in the Ville). It was priced to sell quickly (84,900!) and had only been on the market 14 days. It is a 3 bed 2 bath house with a finished basement, large yard, appliances included and move-in ready. It was lived in by a widow who took great care of it.
Bart had told David that we could look at the house because technically it was still on the market. The people who had made the offer were given a counter offer at list price (they were nuts to offer lower than the already low list price) and they had not accepted it yet. So we set up an appointment to see it.
We went there right after church. By this point David had been in serious communication with a loan officer and with Bart over us qualifying for down payment assistance, loans, etc. That's what made the deal for us. Because we are relatively poor, our low annual income allowed us to receive money from the state of Indiana for a down payment (there's a catch with this, more later). This opened the door to consider the house.
When we toured it I was amazed. I loved it. All the other houses we had looked at didn't sit well in my gut. A few of them gave me the heeby-jeebies. But this house was well-kept up, just with outdated but clean and functional appliances, paint, carpet, etc.
So David, Bart and I were left standing in the living room. Both guys were looking at me. David with an excited and crazed look in his eye, Bart looking between us. They were waiting for me to say "Let's do it" (I had joined them later after nursing in the car). I didn't want to have to be the one to make the call, so I looked back at them, smiling. I love awkward moments.
So I thought about it during that awkward moment, with Carson fussing in the background, the cinnamon candle glowing on the end table, and all the lights on and doors open for show. Hmm... There were no red flags. The house was perfectly within our pre-approved loan amount. It is close by several families we know and love and in a good neighborhood. It had more than we had wanted in a house. We had the means to do it.
So I said we should do it. Then another long awkward moment as Bart sat down at the table to get our the papers. David and I remained standing, a little shocked at the whole thing, asking Bart more questions to make sure we weren't just signing ourselves up for something we really couldn't afford. Bart is an honest and straightforward guy and had so far told us the truth about things in previous houses even if it hurt the possibility of him making the sale.
Finally the three of us sat down at the table and signed the dozens of papers required to make an offer. We made an offer for 3,000 above the list price to increase our chances of being accepted.
As we walked back to our car after signing the papers, a lady came walking down the street looking at us. By the look on her face we could tell she was the seller. We introduced ourselves, made small talk and told her how nice her house was. She went into her house to meet with Bart about our offer.
Less than an hour later we received the call that our offer had been accepted. BAM.
Closing is and possession in May.
So let me tell you how the details fell into place. One is our lease. It is up June 1, so our last rent payment is May 1. Our first mortgage payment isn't until July1. Second, the mortgage payment is less than our rent, but utilities are more, and if we estimate correctly, this will be no increase in our monthly budget, except for the occasional repairs that all homes require. Third, our insurance payments will remain the same even when adding homeowners insurance because the rates are so much lower in Jeff. Fourth, I felt the need to save our paycheck stubs, all of which we needed for the loan application. Five, we happened to sell our car, stereo, and save a few extra dollars here and there without knowing that purchasing a home was coming so soon, yet having more than enough to pay for the things required before closing. Six, we happened to find the right agent at the right time. Seven, despite David's hunt for ministry jobs around the country, we never felt led to them or had any open doors, while at the same time feeling a calling and love for our wonderful church in New Albany. We want to see the kids in our church grow up if we can. Eight, we didn't have the money to buy new appliances, and now we have perfectly good outdated ones to use! We also don't care that the carpet in Carson's room is pink, or that there are tulips painted on the walls in our room (no offense to tulip lovers!!).
I could go on and on, but you get the picture. God is good, and he must be providing this house for His glory. I pray that he gives us opportunities for hospitality and love for our neighbors.
